Women’s Day Celebration

TTUHSC El Paso Hosts Inaugural International Women’s Day Celebration

On Wednesday, March 8, women from departments across our campus community attended TTUHSC El Paso’s inaugural International Women’s Day Celebration. The event was held on International Women’s Day to celebrate the women making a difference in our Borderplex community.

The event included lunch and dialogue moderated by Ann Horak, Ph.D., associate professor of practice at the University of Texas at El Paso. The lunch session was followed by a keynote panel discussion led by Marina Monsisvais, founder and CEO of Barracuda Public Relations. Panelists included:

  • Ginger Kerrick Davis, vice chairwoman of the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents

  • Marina Schachowskoj, assistant coach and video analyst for El Paso Locomotive FC

  • Gabriela Gallegos, J.D., founder and race director of Race El Paso

Each woman shared inspiring stories about their careers, leadership roles, goals for the future and ways in which they empower women in our community and throughout the nation.

The event continued with Advancing Women Sessions, including:

  • “Hormones, Your Environment and Your Health” by Deborah Clegg, Ph.D., vice president for Research at TTUHSC El Paso

  • “Active Living” by Gabriela Gallegos, Ph.D.

  • “Imposter Syndrome and How to Promote Yourself” by Ann Horak, Ph.D.
