AJ’s Uniforms Gifts Hunt School of Nursing Students With Year’s Worth of Scrubs

Gift made in honor of the school’s 10-year anniversary

A local business is making sure Hunt School of Nursing students are well-dressed and ready to take on the challenges of nursing school and the career in health care that follows.

AJ’s Uniforms and owner Ed Azar are gifting 10 Hunt School of Nursing students with scrubs to honor the school’s 10-year anniversary and the important role nurses play in the community. Five graduating Hunt School of Nursing students will receive scrubs in May as they embark on their careers in local hospitals. Later, five incoming students will receive scrubs as they begin classes in the fall. Azar said the scrubs they carry are not only comfortable but durable and easy to care for.

“It has been our great honor to support nurses and nursing students, especially after everything they’ve had to endure during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Azar said. “We’re happy to ensure they’re dressed for success as they enter their careers and provide compassionate care to the residents of our region.”

El Pasoan Vianca Paez is a Hunt School of Nursing student graduating from the school’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program this month. She received scrubs from AJ’s Uniforms and is thankful for the support community members like Azar provide.

“The significance of having the community’s support during such a beautiful time of resilience and recovery is everything to incoming nurses,” Paez said. “I’m most grateful for donors like Mr. Azar, who have provided a sense of relief and peace, knowing that our community supports future health care professionals who are passionate about helping others.”

With the only accelerated 16-month B.S.N. program in the region, students like Paez and recent graduates embarked on a nursing career during a worldwide pandemic knowing the risks and challenges of the profession.

For Paez, the gift gives her one less thing to be concerned about so she can focus on joining the health care field she has wanted to join for years.

“I pursued nursing because I wanted a career with purpose where I could make an impact in my community – a career that was intellectually stimulating and made me feel fulfilled every day.”

AJ's Uniforms has a history of philanthropy in our community. In the summer of 2020, the AJ's Cares program provided free uniforms and footwear to health care heroes nominated by the community.

AJ’s Uniforms, with two locations in El Paso, has over 20 years’ experience in the medical uniforms retail business. The business prides itself on offering the most current fashions from premier brands while offering the Southwest’s widest selection of scrubs, lab coats, footwear, medical equipment and accessories for health care heroes. They cater to large groups such as hospitals and universities, as well as individual customers.
