Day of Service
Students participate in MLK Day of Service by helping the Borderplex community
TTUHSC El Paso students spent the Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend honoring the legacy of the civil rights leader by serving the community.
Each year, the TTUHSC El Paso Community, Action, Research and Engaged Service (CARES) group plans MLK Day community wellness and development events in neighborhoods throughout El Paso. During the weekend, 80-100 students from the Foster School of Medicine, Hunt School of Nursing, Francis Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Hunt School of Dental Medicine volunteered at area service events.
Honoring the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by helping others is just one example of the student body giving back to our Borderplex community. With a focus on compassionate care and culturally competent community service, TTUHSC El Paso students devote over 19,000 hours to volunteer work annually.
