Elevating Kidney Care
Biff F. Palmer, M.D., FACP, FASN, professor of education and internal medicine at the Texas Tech Health El Paso’s Foster School of Medicine, received the prestigious Robert G. Narins Award in early November — recognizing his extensive contributions to training the next generation of nephrologists, physicians who treat diseases of the kidneys.
Borderplex Dental Pioneer
For 39 years, El Paso dentist Richard C. Black, D.D.S., M.S., served his community with compassionate care. Now, as founding dean of the Hunt School of Dental Medicine, he’s leading the effort to train the next generation of oral health care providers for our Borderplex region.

Building Hope

Growing Our Care
When Zoe Rosales walked across the stage last Friday at Starlight Event Center, she didn’t just receive a diploma. At only 19 years old, this Socorro High School Class of 2024 graduate is now an alumna of Hunt School of Nursing’s Class of 2025 and already a registered nurse, ready to treat patients in the West Texas community where she grew up.
Decade of Distinction
The Texas Tech Health El Paso Hunt School of Nursing will continue to address our Borderplex’s long-standing nursing shortage after receiving another 10-year accreditation for their master's degree program by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Born and raised in El Paso’s historic Segundo Barrio, Dr. Saul Ivan Ramirez’s medical journey began in the community he now serves. A proud first-generation college graduate, he is a board-certified internal medicine doctor — a physician who specializes in the comprehensive care of adults, focusing on prevention, diagnosis and management of chronic diseases.

Global Health and Societies is calling for abstracts for presentations at its Global Health Conference on Friday, March 13, 2026. Abstract submissions are due Monday, Feb. 9, 2026.
Lighting Hope Together
Texas Tech Health El Paso’s third annual Lighting Campus for Hope, presented by Hunt Companies, illuminated the campus with holiday magic on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025. Families, friends and cancer warriors from across our Borderplex, with an estimated 1,000 in attendance, celebrated hope and unity in the fight against cancer.
