Texas Tech Health El Paso Strategic Planning and Leadership Meeting Capped Off by Motivational Speeches
Kelly Tomblin and Michelle Singh provide spark as keynote presenters
The Texas Tech Health El Paso Strategic Planning and Leadership Meeting was held Friday in Medical Sciences Building II, welcoming decision makers from around the university.
The event was highlighted by two guest speakers: Kelly Tomblin, J.D., M.B.A., President and CEO of The El Paso Electric Company, and Michelle Singh, Ph.D., Assistant Commissioner for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s Division of Digital Learning.
Tomblin shared key parts of her “change leadership roadmap.” She said that in order to create a successful work environment, you need to be willing to disrupt norms and empower change.
“It’s not just what you do, it’s who you are that matters,” Tomblin said. “Whatever you do, make sure that it’s real.”
Dr. Singh presented on artificial intelligence, but told the crowd to focus on the “other AI — adapting to innovation.”
“When the calculator came out it empowered people to have a better grasp on math. So, we have been here before,” Dr. Singh said. “We need to focus on how we adapt to this technology and every new innovation that comes after that.”
