OB-GYN Department Offers Programs for Uninsured or Underinsured Texas Residents

The Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology would like to inform the El Paso community about several health care programs available for uninsured or underinsured Texas residents:

Breast and Cervical Cancer Services (BCCS)

The BCCS program covers an annual exam once every three years and/or the diagnosis of abnormal pap smears with colposcopy and biopsies. It also offers Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP), laser and cryotherapy treatments of the cervix.

Women age 21-64 who are uninsured or underinsured and have an income below 200% of the federal poverty level may qualify for the program.

Family Planning Program (FPP)

The FPP program covers contraception counseling and contraception methods such as Depo-Provera injections and devices such as the Nexplanon implant, and Liletta and Paragard IUDs.

Women age 16-64 who are uninsured or underinsured and have an income below 250% of the federal poverty level may qualify for the program.

Application Assistance

The OB-GYN department has patient representatives and social workers who can assist qualifying OB-GYN clinic patients with applications for various government programs, including CHIP Perinatal, Medicaid for Pregnant Women, Healthy Texas Women Medicaid program, and Medicaid for Breast and Cervical Cancer program.

Epilepsy Clinic Assistance

OB-GYN patient representatives and social workers will also assist patients who may qualify for the epilepsy clinic in the Department of Neurology. The clinic offers a cost assistance and case management program for male or female Texas residents age 21-64 with income below 200% of the federal poverty level.
