A Texas Tech Health El Paso leader is representing the university and our Borderplex while expanding her influence after being accepted into the 2024 Leadership America cohort.

Brianna Huffman, senior program director for special events, from the Office of Institutional Advancement, was accepted into the prestigious program presented by Leadership Women, Inc., a Dallas-based nonprofit. She participated in Leadership Texas in 2017.

Leadership Women chooses its participants from across the state for their professional, cultural, geographic and ethnic diversity. Each member has a track record of collaborating with leaders from a broad spectrum of disciplines and interests. While in the program, participants learn about the opportunities and challenges of different communities they visit, while honing leadership skills.

Huffman has been with the Texas Tech University System for over 15 years and with Texas Tech Health El Paso for the past 13 years.

As senior director of special events, Huffman takes the lead on planning impactful events that foster philanthropy and combines creativity with the university’s strategic goals. She said it’s been incredible to see the university’s growth and transformation in that time.

“It’s an honor to be accepted into the Leadership America 2024 class,” said Huffman, who is one of three El Pasoans in this year’s cohort. “During our sessions, we have the invaluable opportunity to learn and engage with community leaders who share their wealth of knowledge, experience and wisdom. Their stories and the impact on their respective communities fuels my motivation to contribute meaningfully to our El Paso community.”

This year, the Leadership America cohort is visiting Washington D.C., Detroit, and San Diego.

“In addition to the programming, I learn so much from my classmates,” Huffman said. “They’re stellar women.”

Leadership Texas is the longest-running women’s leadership program in the country, providing networking opportunities for over 41 years to women at all decision-making levels in political, economic and public life.
